The UK Government is currently consulting on proposals to accelerate the current planning system. This consultation is seeking views on proposals to:
introduce a new ‘Accelerated Planning Service’ for major commercial applications with a decision time in 10 weeks (rather than the current 13 weeks) and fee refunds if deadlines are missed;
end the use of extensions of time for householder applications and only allow one extension of time for other applications;
expand the current written reps appeals process for householder and minor commercial appeals to others; and
implement a section 73B for applications to vary existing planning permissions.
