DLBP secures permission to enhance fire safety of eight storey building in Lewisham, London

DLBP is delighted to have recently secured planning permission to erect a new stairwell to an existing eight storey building in Lewisham, London, on behalf of a private client.

DLBP was first instructed to secure permission for this change following several applications having been refused previously prior to our involvement.

DLBP worked closely with the client and project architect to prepare a well-designed scheme that was sensitive to the site’s location within a Conservation area.  This required us to have consideration for the siting and orientation of the stairwell so to minimise the potential for harm on surrounding heritage assets, whilst ensuring it would fulfil its intended purpose by enhancing the safety of the host building.

Once submitted, we took a proactive approach to engaging with officers at the Council and addressed their initial concerns regarding the massing of the scheme and landscaping design, such that permission was granted.

We are proud to have secured this permission on behalf of our client, which will allow them to progress with works on the site and provide safer properties for future residents.
