DLBP secures unanimous approval at Planning Committee for new LEAP24 charging station

DLBP is extremely pleased to have secured unanimous approval, on behalf of LEAP24 UK, for an electric vehicle charging station with three ultra-rapid charging points following the demolition of vacant garages on a site in Watford at a recent Planning Committee meeting.

DLBP initially devised and advised LEAP24 on a planning strategy to secure permission for an EV charging station on the site before leading on the preparation of an application, working closely with TSG Group and Pulsar Transport Planning to prepare a suitable scheme.  Alongside this, DLBP also prepared a detailed Planning Statement to justify the proposal in design and character terms and stress its benefits for local residents and businesses.

During the application consultation period, the Council’s Environmental Health Officer raised a concern regarding the potential impact from noise to neighbouring properties, so DLBP briefed Sound Licensing to prepare a Noise Impact Assessment demonstrating there would be no adverse harm in this regard which successfully resolved the Officer’s concerns.

Due to the number of objections raised by local residents, the application had to be presented to the Planning Committee.  DLBP worked closely with the Planning Officer to ensure the application was presented with a recommendation for approval. Director of Planning, Andrew Ryley, addressed local councillors and spoke in support of the scheme at the meeting, ensuring all objections were suitably addressed such that they voted unanimously in its favour.

We very much look forward to continue working with LEAP24, a leading charge point operator and provider of EV infrastructure in Europe, as they expand their operations in the UK throughout 2024.
